Finch blasts ton for Renegades in BBL
Aaron Finch has scored a magnificent century to help set BBL finals-bound Sydney Sixers a challenging total at the SCG.
Sent into bat by Sixers' counterpart Moises Henriques on Saturday, Finch slammed 109 off 68 balls to dominate the Renegades total of 5-175.
Australian ODI captain Finch, back from the three-match series in India, blasted seven sixes and six fours before falling to a catch in the deep from the penultimate ball of the innings
The belligerent opener benefited from couple of dropped catches when on 39 and 62 - a diving Jordan Silk dropped a tough chance in the outfield while Ben Dwarshuis was guilty of a straightforward lapse at deep cover.
The Renegades star increased the pain for Dwarshuis in the next over, taking 22 from the over as he clubbed three boundaries and a six
Finch hit the quick for another six at the start of the final over, though Dwarshuis at least ended the onslaught when Tom Curran had safe hands at long off.
Luckless Dwarshuis also dropped Finch's opening partner Tom Cooper (24 off 10) off the first ball bowled by Test paceman Josh Hazlewood, who had 18 taken from the remainder of the over.
Finch also hit successive sixes off Test spinner Nathan Lyon to end a period of six overs which gleaned just 26 runs and no boundaries.
Finch dominated a fourth wicket stand of 73 off 32 balls with Mohammad Nabi (20 off 13), which gave the innings much needed impetus.
England paceman Curran was the pick of the third-placed Sixers' attack taking 3-27 from his four over allocation.Australian Associated Press
