The Aussie and Melbourne Renegades skipper hit 109 off 68 balls, including six fours and seven sixes to set a decent chase for the Sydney Sixers of 5/175.
But it's the personal records which have the star claiming a place among the best T20 exponents to have played the game so far.
Finch has eight centuries in T20 matches, joining David Warner and Michael Klinger in equal second on the list.
Adding in his T20 International tons, he's also moved to second overall, equalling Rohit Sharma who also has 10, with four T20I centuries.
Both records are behind Chris Gayle, who has a remarkable 22 centuries in T20 competitions, with a further two for the West Indies.
Finch, who holds the world record for the highest T20 International score with 172 against Zimbabwe, the second highest T20 score of all-time, again behind Gayle's 175 not out in the 2013 IPL, averaged 35.51 per innings at a rate of 143.65 and is a lock for Australia's assault on the T20 World Cup later this year.
Finch scored his 50 off 45 balls, but thumped his second half century off just 18 balls.
It's been a long time between drinks for Finch, having claimed a century in BBL02, when he hit 111 not out against the Melbourne Stars in December 2012.
But with the century, he joins Luke Wright, Craig Simmons, Usman Khawaja and D'Arcy Short with two centuries in the BBL.More to come...
